Our DWI Intervention course is state approved and certified by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. This standardized course is taught in two days per week in two-hour segments. The course is presented in a positive manner with an emphasis on evidence-based learning and participation. The program purpose is to intervene in the alcohol/drug abusing lifestyles of the offenders in order to prevent further substance abuse related problems. By the end of the course, participants will have a better understanding of lifestyle issues, values, self-esteem, positive thinking, and responsibility.
Audience:
- Those who have multiple DWI offenses
- Those who have alcohol/drug-related problems for which the first offender program was not designed to address
- Those who have been ordered to take the course for other reasons
Technology
To participate in all courses, you must join via a smart phone, tablet, or laptop with working camera and microphone.
Courses are taught live via Zoom. After registering and paying, you will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link.
You are not required to have a Zoom account to join. You may join from any updated web browser when clicking on the Zoom link by scrolling to the bottom of the web page and selecting Join from Your Browser.
Messaging
One day prior to class, you will receive an email with link to complete other mandated forms that the instructor will ask you to complete during class.
You may opt-in for text message reminders. Normal text message and data rates may apply.
Cancellation and Rescheduling
If you need to cancel or reschedule, contact us prior to the first day of the course. Cancellation or rescheduling may incur a fee of $25.
If you do not attend the course and have not canceled or requested to be rescheduled, you forfeit the entire registration fee.
Attendance
Attendance is required for the first day of the course.
Sign-in to Zoom five minutes prior to the start of each session. If you login to the course late, you may be denied entrance and will be required to arrange a make-up session with the course instructor.
Two (2) absences are allowed, if needed. The absence MUST be made up prior to the next class. Each make-up session is a $60 fee paid prior to the session.
No visitors allowed during virtual course except during Family Week (modules 9 & 10)
Privacy and confidentiality for all participants is required. You must be in a non-public location where your screen (i.e. the names and faces of other participants) is not visible to others.
Family Week: Participants are required by the curriculum to bring a significant other, family member, or friend to the two (2) family sessions as noted on the schedule. No young children allowed. Check with instructor/facilitator for age limit.
Behavior
Education Resource is a welcoming environment to participants of all genders, ethnicities, religions, backgrounds, ages, and sexual orientations. Disrespectful, disruptive, or harassing behavior is not tolerated and will result in expulsion from the course and forfeiture of registration fees.
Student must remain abstinent from the use of alcohol and other mind-altering substances during the entire course. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in an unsatisfactory discharge.
Audio and video recording are prohibited. Picture taking is also prohibited.
Participation in classroom discussions is expected, as well as completion of homework assignments.
A discharge action plan must be developed and completed in accordance with the curriculum.
Instructors have final say in all matters. Anything not specifically addressed here but is deemed unacceptable during the course is grounds for expulsion without refund.
Forms and Certificates
All forms, tests, and workbooks must be completed as required.
Participants must provide Education Resource with their cause number or case number, probation officer name and email or their attorney’s name and email.
At the end of the course, participants will receive either a paper or electronic certificate, as required by state/court rules.
Duplicate certificates are $25 each.
